CD Reviews

Luscious Supremes!
Charles A. Barnes | Stamford, CT | 05/28/2002
(4 out of 5 stars)

"This cd shows how Motown artists covered other performers songs. This included the Supremes. Here, are some classic and almost forgotten songs such as Ode To Billy Joe, With A Song In My Heart and one of my personal favorites- Forever Came Today which the girls performed on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1968. This cd may not venture the best sound possible but is better than many of its counterparts. Great!"
Wonderful!

"I enjoyed this CD. I once performed with The Supremes back in 1967. They are still SUPREME in my book. For all you Motown fans, this is a must have!"
Classy Collection

"When you think of Diana Ross and The Supremes, you think of a class act; the one that set the standard for all female vocal groups to aspire to. For the U.S. fans the inlay booklet includes rare photos of Diana,Mary and Florence enjoying time in Europe and some of the most famous group photos as well;plus a rare on stage photo of Diana,Mary and Cindy out of their usual stage "uniforms". What I like about this collection is that it includes the hits we hear less often on the airwaves including Nothing But Heartaches; Forever Came Today (their last hit penned by legendary writing team Holland/Dozier/Holland), Somethings You Never Get Used To(the first hit Diana would record by the writing team Ashford & Simpson), The Composer (composed by Smokey Robinson)and No Matter What Sign You Are. You'll also enjoy their classics You Can't Hurry Love, the eerie Reflections and their last number one single together Someday We'll Be Together (which was also the last number one song of the 1960's). Enjoy the pop covers of Hey Western Union Man and Ode To Billy Joe (the song that kept Reflections in the number 2 position on the Billboard Charts). The Motown covers from their A Go Go album Get Ready and This Old Heart Of Mine, will have you dancing along and remind you why that album reached number one on the U.S. Album Charts. Turn down the lights and with someone special listen to Unchained Melody; With A Song In My Heart, Wonderful, Wonderful and Stranger In Paradise from their I Hear A Symphony Album. Buy this CD and consider adding the A Go Go and I Hear A Symphony albums to your collection too. Both are available on Amazon."
