Composers Peter Ruzicka (born in 1949) and Wolfgang Rihm (born in 1952) both belong to the generation of composers that already had to search for a musical identity under the aging of new music noted by Adorno. However, despite all the differences inherent in the intended effect of the works presented here, they are still linked together through their fragmentary aesthetics, by assimilating borders of the words and language, the dialectic tendency towards silence - and their lyrical quality. Without a doubt, the performers featured on this production - Fischer-Dieskau as singer and the Ensemble Modern belong to the leading artists in their fields.
