Uli Raises The Bar For Guitar Virtuosity

"Uli Jon Roth's new cd, Transcendental Sky Guitar, raises the bar of guitar virtuosity so high that it is unlikely to be surpassed. The compositional and technical prowess displayed on TSG is nothing short of amazing. I was in tears one moment and shouting for joy the next. There is an ever present powerful flow of spirituality combined with technical genius that is executed flawlessly time and time again. The emotional impact of his playing has never been stronger. From the opening "Sky Overture" to the closing song, "Air De Bach", Uli runs the gamut from Jimi Hendrix' "Voodoo Chile" to classical masters Chopin, Mozart and the aforementioned Bach just to name a few. He executes each of these styles with unparalled accuracy and emotion. The emotional impact of his playing cannot be understated. In all, this is a masterpiece of guitar work that cannot be ignored. I stand in awe of this musical master."

"How in the world anyone would rate this CD as one star is just amazing! True, there are a couple classical numbers that I find less enjoyable than the remainder of the songs. But to say Uli plays them in a mediocre fashion is just bull! He's friggin brilliant.
Uli plays an awesome version of Voodoo Chile here as well as a great updated recording of his classic Earthquake. These are great songs, but it is the very diverse and masterful quality of the other 23 numbers that gives this collection such listenable staying power. TSG is a profoundly impressive listen for any true Uli fan. Check it out and enjoy."
