"So what would you expect from a band called UGLY? I can tell you this much, what you expect and what you get might be two completely different things because hidden within the grooves of this here indie release are some of the finest Rock n Roll moments committed to disc in the last 10 years. What Ugly have done is distanced themselves from whatever the current happening sound is and reimagined what it would be like to be in a band circa 77-78 playing on a stage in front of 50,000 rckers. A great period for music i think we all can agree: Kiss, V Halen and the mighty Aerosmith were all living to excess and recording some of their best ever music and all are apparent and very much rampant here on UGLYS debut cd. The vocalist can be a dedringer for Roth at times but it makes this no less of a statement because as the riffs and mighty tunes just keep on a comin you realise you might have just stumbled upon the album of the decade...Theres plenty for rock fans to get excited about here too but my own fave is Friday Night which had V Halen recorded with Roth after the 1984 record then Friday Night would be the lead single for sure, Sex, Drugs....could be directly from The Cults 'Electric' and is obviosuly a paen to the life of a rock star (not many of them around today.. not real ones anyway).
