Synopsis

Album Description
For more than 30 years and nine albums, Rick fronted the jumping, swinging Little Charlie & The Nightcats, featuring guitarist Little Charlie Baty. With Baty's recent retirement from touring, Estrin -- along with the Nightcats longtime rhythm section of J. Hansen and Lorenzo Farrell and a new member, fiery guitarist Kid Andersen -- takes the lead on his own. The band's debut album, Twisted, while still swinging the blues, is a harmonica-driven, rocking, guitar-fueled rave-up. Featuring 14 songs (including 10 Estrin originals, two by Kid Andersen, one by Hansen, and a superb band-created instrumental), Twisted showcases Rick's seemingly effortless command of the harmonica, his streetwise vocals and his remarkable original songs.

CD Reviews

Rick Estrin is the BEST

"Rick Estrin shines again with his clever songwriting and unique personality imprinted all over this cd. There was never any doubt that rick was the genius behind his nightcats band with little charlie baty on guitar. Little Charlie is a virtuoso on guitar but it was always rick etsrins wit, humor, intelligence, class and sheer charisma that sold the show night after night. On Twisted, Rick is still in the rare form that makes him a true original; He sings and croons and plays the harmonica like a seasoned and tasteful pro. He makes you actually want more harp because he is a genius at when to lay out and when to pour it on. I highly recommend this cd."

"I have been a fan of Little Charlie & the Nightcats for a long time now and have seen them live a number of times. When I heard that Little Charlie Baty had chosen to no longer tour, I was very disappointed that I would no longer get to hear or see Little Charlie & the Nightcats perform anymore. A couple of months later I was thrilled to hear that Rick Estrin, harmonica player, lead singer and founding member with Charlie Baty of the band had decided to continue touring under the name Rick Estrin and the Nightcats. I saw them live a couple of days ago and they are just as good as they have ever been. J. Hansen on drums and Lorenzo Farrell on bass are still doing a great job and Kid Andersen is a worthy successor to the guitar spot formerly held by Little Charlie. The songs are as good or better as always. If you haven't bought this CD, do it now and if you have an opportunity to see them live, go see them, you won't regret it.

Rick at his best

"I believe this is Rick's first outing as a Nightcat sans Charlie Baty. I miss Little Charlie, consummate guitarist that he is, but Kid Andersen is a fabulous addition to this band. As usual, Rick will slay you with his harp and lyrics . . . . both razor-sharp. All the cuts are great . . . . no disappointments here."
