CD Reviews

Twink - 'The Never Never Land/Think Pink - Demos' (Get Back)
Mike Reed | USA | 05/14/2006
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Took me awhile to land down a copy of this disc.Basically, you get twelve unreleased tracks of demos from two 'key' classic psych albums,Twink's 'Think Pink'('70)and the Pink Fairie's 'Never Never Land'('71).Many of these cuts sound quite a bit different than the album version,YET still sound good. Not every artist can pull that feat off. But,Twink(given name:John Charles Adler)manages.Tunes I dug the most were both versions of "Fluid","Dawn Of Magick",the head-tripper "The Dream Is Just The Beginning","Thor"(a good Fairies song)and "Ten Thousand Words In A Cardboard Box".Two tracks here I didn't recognize right off were "Rock&Roll The Joint" and "Gandalf's Garden".I assume they were left overs that never made it onto any lp.Either way, even though this CD is pretty much for Twink/Pink Fairies completists,it's STILL worth checking out.If I ever got the chance to ask Twink about these roughs,I probably ask him WHAT he was on when he made these recordings.PLUS:could I have some?Recommended."
