Synopsis

Album Description
Limited Edition two CD pressing of the hugely anticipated 2007 debut album from the Britpopsters featuring a bonus CD that contains five tracks: 'Wide Awake' (Acoustic Version), 'Cloudy Room' (Napster Session), 'Either Way' (Streets Remix Featuring Professor Green), 'Ice Cream Sundae' (Live At Doncaster Dome) and 'Cloudy Room' (Live At Doncaster Dome). Recorded with long term producer Gavin Monahan at his Magic Garden Studios in Wolverhampton and mixed by Mark ?Spike? Stent at Olympic Studios. The Twang are a gang but they?re a hardworking gang, they?re from the normal life lived in towns and cities across the country but they want more and they are getting it. Most importantly, they?ve achieved their initial goal; to make this record and document the world as they see it, the world as they, and their friends (who are a huge part of this story and this album), live it. They are the most talked about band of this year but they are also one of the brightest hopes to emerge from the UK in years. 17 tracks including the singles 'Wide Awake' and 'Either Way'. B-Unique.

CD Reviews

Madchester redux

(4 out of 5 stars)

"Is it the early to mid 90s all over again? That's what I thought when I first heard tracks from an earlier EP, songs like "Ice Cream Sundae" and "Either Way". I've never fallen out of love with the sounds of that scene and it seems neither have The Twang. You cannot miss the influences from the Mondays, Northside, Inspirals, and Space Monkeys in this music. Check out "The Neighbour", which channels Northside like no band I know, for good or bad. The EP I easily give 4.5 stars to.

Now for the full length release. All the EP songs are present but alas they are easily still the best tracks. The "new" tracks are more poppy (e.g. "Two Lovers") yet unmistakably Twang. On the strength of the earlier tunes and "Don't Wait Up" on the full length, I'm going to rate this a 4. Put me in the "like" camp regarding the vocal stylings of the lead singer.

"After seeing this album recommended in the UK Best of 2007 Lists I decided to give it a try and was pleasantly surprised. It grew on me immediately and I can't stop playing it."
