Great old trumpet music

"I first got this 1957 album in 1965 and quickly wore it out. The digital version was extremely difficult to find but well worth the effort. The artists are virtually unknown to anyone except a big band era junkie like me. If you like all trumpets all the time, you'll love this CD. These guys hit the high notes with strength and vigor, no, they attack the upper register. They don't just squeeze off a barely audible high note now and then, they hit the high notes in five part harmony! Three songs stand out. Trumpeter's Prayer is the finest solo I've ever heard. It's said that the entire band burst out into applause at the conclusion of Conrad Gozzo's performance. As for the entire trumpet section, Southland and Bugle Blues feature it best. They have plenty of upper register harmony and some unbelievable jazz solos. So if you like trumpet music, you've got to get this CD. You won't be sorry. The entire album is included in the recently released Tutti's trumpets and trombones."
