"If you have never heard A Trumpeter's Prayer, you should buy this CD. It was played by the late Conrad Gozzo, and is one of the most beautiful trumpet pieces ever recorded. For a history, look up Gozzo, and read a fascinating account of a great trumpet player who died much too young."
A youth's introduction to beautiful composition.

"Fifty years ago, when I was a young teen, I was lucky enough to purchase Tutti's Trumpets. As I learned to play my trumpet, I played along with the master. I never became very good, but enjoyed playing this way for many years. I am now 66 years old and still have my old trumpet. I still,I think, have my old record. I tried to find a CD replacement several years ago,and was unsuccessful. This morning I tried again and was very surprised to find the CD. If you have heard Boy Meets Horn-Stardust and especially A Trumpeter's Prayer-get ready for some of the prettiest trumpet sounds ever. On par with Chris Botti- Carl"

"Can't offer any comments for the trumpet songs but I first heard Tutti's Trombones when I was a wee lad of 12, and 40 years later it's still some of the best arranged trombone music I've ever heard. T bone music just doesn't get any better than this."

"Tutti's Trumpets and Trombones
The Maestro. "Trumpeter's Prayer" by Tutti and played by Conrad Gozzo is CLASSIC. It should be added to available Church music as a Hymn of Joy and Requiem.
The Tutti I knew was at Sunset Sound, as owner and Wizard of the sound recordings produced there for the Disney Label. He was very quiet and unassuming but always in his own world of creation - The Imagineer of Sound.
This shows in the music written, developed and recorded for this album.
The Musicians he found were the BEST then and now. Each had a varying specialty which he used to the maximum effect for each selection.
I have purchased 3 of this CD and just got another. They get passed on to those who need to hear great music. Etc., Etc.

Some of the greatest players of their time- some of all time

"I've been a professional musician, bassman, since I was 14, 1944, and Conrad Gozzo was one of my idols from way back. I saw him on Kenton's band sitting next to Ray Wetzel playing the greatest I've ever heard. The trumpets were recorded in 1957 before multitracks-one take! Listen to "Trumpeter's Prayer" and water comes to your eyes for Goz's great playing, simple, straight forward, all that great implied power held back so beautifically, strong, perfect breath, sensitive feeling, merely the greatest there ever was. Tutti's charts are occasionally a bit commercial but always tasty; in those days in the studios you had to please several, the producer, and A & R people. All in all this is a wonderful reissuance, well mixed in digital, bringing up the bass and other usually silent sounds from those recording days. Trombones recorded 1966 are great, Rosolino unbelievable. Yet both he and the great Goz died tragically too soon- such amazing gifts these boys had and yet were never able to enjoy these later years looking back a bit at all our old pals. These sessions had to be terrifically animated and full of fun and jokes and high respect for each other. Goz got a hand for "Prayer" from the whole orchestra. This is a true gem CD."
