"Certainly one of the bands most responsible for the San Fransisco Jazz Sound. You won't find any better Dixieland Jazz than this. I'm a tuba player and often listen to Turk Murphy for inspiration. You won't be disappointed with either of the Favourites CD's."

"This is Turk's husky trombone style at its powerful best, and the rest of the group is just as good. The tunes are mostly well-known standards, but the solos and ensemble work are original and interesting. Murphy's own singing is kept to a blessed minimum, but there are two tracks with the wonderful Claire Austin in her recording debut, and they are worth the price of the CD all by themselves."
