AS SOMEONE WHO HAS LISTENED (AND LISTENED) TO ALMOST ALL OF TUBBY'S RECORDED OUTPUT I FOUND THIS LIVE DATE TO BE AMOUNG THE BEST OF ANY OF HIS RECORDINGS- AS IT FINDS AN EXTREEMLY UNRESTRAINED HAYES JUST BLOWING THE WALLS DOWN. A MUST FOR ANY FAN OF JAZZ TENOR. UTTERLEY COMPELLING MUSIC FROM A SADLY NEGLECTED JAZZ GENIUS."

"This a good example of the fabulous technique of Tubby Hayes.
The recording conditions are not so good as I expected for a session in the seventies: the mike is too far from the sax or the recording level is too low. This makes the rhythm section a bit too loud.It seems also that Tubby has used a thinner reed
during this session, so his tone is not so broad as on other sessions, but it also a matter of taste to like or dislike this.
The track "Ï thought About You" is a wonderful ballad. Note that this music has never been issued before. Nice stuff for the Tubby Hayes fans."
