Nice one

"I came across a YouTube clip of this girl while looking for something else. She was playing the third movement of the Haydn. It was such a nice, fluid rendition that I bought the SACD (this one).
Tine Thing Helseth is a twentysomething Norwegian with lungs the size of a Zeppelin somehow concealed within a slender frame. Her technique is flawless, at least to these ears, her tone warm and gorgeous. She is ably accompanied by the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra.
The SACD features the two "warhorses" of the repertoire, the Haydn and the Hummel, both written for the same man, Anton Weidinger, who had developed a keyed trumpet to overcome the natural instrument's deficiencies. The performances are straightforward, nothing fancy, which is good, because the two are fine pieces of music. The other two concerti, one by Albinoni the other by Neruda, are also pleasant listening. Recommended."
I am so enjoying this collection

"A talented young musician with beautiful musical accompaniment plays an outstanding selection of pieces has me watching for her next album which I hope will come soon. I first "met" Tine on YouTube and was very happy to find several of those offerings on this album. I hope to see her in concert on day."
I have never heard the trumpet sound this beautiful!

"Tine Helseth's performances of the three core trumpet concertos by Haydn, Neruda, and Hummel (plus a shorter work by Albinoni) are absolutely essential to hear for anyone who enjoys the classical trumpet. I have never heard a trumpet sound as beautiful as in Helseth's playing: her tone is light, smooth, and sweet, giving the trumpet an almost vocal quality. This is very different from what most people think of when it comes to the trumpet, namely, a grand instrument meant to play fanfares and royal coronations, etc. Helseth makes the trumpet into an instrument that can sing without the aid of a human voice.
I am familiar with many classic recordings of the Haydn concerto, especially those by Maurice Andre, Thomas Stevens, Winton Marsalis and, most recently, Alison Balsom. My personal favorite had been the Stevens (with LAPO conducted by Mehta). Balsom's highly-praised recent account is good but it doesn't stand out from earlier performances, to my ears. Helseth gives this warhorse a fresh and invigorating account, accompanied by thrilling playing (yes, thrilling in Haydn!) by the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, which M. Rostropovich has characterized as one of the world's finest ensembles. The same can be said for the performances of the other three works, especially the Hummel concerto, which Helseth shapes beautifully and plays with much virtuosity.
The sound quality of this SACD is absolutely outstanding, one of the most realistic-sounding classical recordings I have ever heard. The balance between soloist and orchestra is absolutely perfect. The acoustics of Jar church (in Oslo, Norway), in which the recordings were made, are fantastic.
To sum: if you think you know the trumpet, this CD will be a revelation. The trumpet has never sounded this beautiful. Helseth's performances of all four works, especially the Haydn, set a new standard for excellence. Run out and grab this CD if you have ever wanted to hear how beautiful the classical trumpet can sound!"
