Synopsis
Product Description True Margrit takes piano-pop to new heights with their 5th release, The Juggler's Progress. Equipped with a pack of thematic inspirations including Shakespeare, mountaineering, and evolutionary destiny, True Margrit fashions brainy musings into catchy, poptastic tunes. Based in San Francisco, True Margrit is fronted by singer/songwriter/piano-player (and transplanted Knoxville, Tennessean), Margrit Eichler. True Margrit's sound is fueled by Eichler's husky/sweet alto, her aggressive piano playing, her surreal & catchy tunes, and the fleet-footed rhythm-section of Gary Hobish on bass and Andrew Bacon on drums. The Juggler's Progress also features Bay Area guest stars - including virtuoso violin by Gloria Justen (of the Philip Glass Ensemble), backing vocals by Pam Delgado, and guitar by Jeri Jones (both of whom are in San Francisco's rising act, Blame Sally). |
CD ReviewsPop prog plus A loving husband | 04/07/2010 (5 out of 5 stars) "This group is a power trio of keyboard, bass, and drums. The rhythm section of Hobish and Bacon is a monster and lays down a strong foundation for Ms. Eichler's excellent, catchy songwriting and witty lyrics (plenty of Shakespeare references). This is prog pop for the thinking person, and a welcome addition to the repertoire."
