Album Description"All things considered, Helpless is one of the most intriguing records ever made by someone schooled in the punk/metal tradition." - Lost at Sea After the breakup of the Murder City Devils, singer Spencer Moody (Dead Low Tide, Smoke and Smoke) and Corey Brewer started Triumph of Lethargy Skinned Alive to Death as a project that would rewrite what a band could be and what a song could sound like. A few years of recording and intermittent touring followed, and in 2005 they released Helpless, a CD built around a Neil Young track. The album aspired to be, in Moody's words, "the loneliest-sounding record in the world." That summer Dann Gallucci (A Gun Called Tension, Modest Mouse) joined on drums, keys, and production. After a tour, the group recorded Dead Rhythm, a collection of songs that showcases the members' independent and collaborative writing styles ranging from delicate to brutal.
