"There are countless Metallica tribute albums available and several orchestral interpretations of their music, but this is the one to Kill them all! The most incredible thing about this album is the way The Scorched Earth Orchestra manages to extract new colours and go deeper into these classic Metallica songs, all while keeping the dark and brooding nature of the original. It's like looking behind the curtain to find an undiscovered universe. Metallica fans will really appreciate the fresh journey they are taken on with their favourite songs. The sense of epicness, granduer and sinister-goings-on are all heightened. The standout out tracks are "Disposable Heroes" and "Orion". These are also the longest tracks on the original album and give the Orchestra room to really show what they're capable of. The solos in Orion are beautifully re-created. This album grows on you and is a must have for any true Metallica fan."

A classic album gets a classical rebirth!

"That's right, Master Of Puppets has been turned into a classical album by an orchestra by the name of The Scorched Earth Orchestra. No track was rejected, The entire album in its original order is taken 1 by 1 and re-worked as symphonic pieces. For a minute, I thought i was listening to the Conan soundtrack or the soundtrack to some big bible epic. Epic sounding and never boring, This symphonic tribute proves that even classical musicians can rock! At times, I've even found myself headbanging to this cd as if it were the original album from the 80's! Also, The lyrics are absent on this entire cd, Rendering this cd an instrumental tribute which even adds to the power of this project. I practically grew up on Master Of Puppets [And other Metallica albums in general] and i remember each and every song on this cd almost by heart [Meaning i know exactly how each and every song on this cd is supposed to sound]. The rendition of ''The Thing That Should Not Be'' literally sounds like some great horror movie music and it wouldn't be out of place on something like the Jaws soundtrack or even the Saw soundtrack! ''Battery'' here sounds like some straight up sword movie music. ''Orion'', Which is the definite highlight of the whole cd and is still my favorite Metallica instrumental, Sounds even darker here and sounds very epic and very haunting. There is no bad tracks on this cd. This cd stands as a true testament to the masterpiece that is Master Of Puppets. Believe it or not, This same orchestra even did a symphonic tribute to Cradle Of Filth [But that cd isn't nowhere near as good as this one]. Being that it's now 2008 and it is now the 20th anniversary of Metallica's And Justice For All, I hope to God that the scorched earth orchestra returns to do a symphonic tribute to that album. Even if you are not a Metallica fan, If you just like classical music, I strongly reccomend this cd to you."

"Reminiscent of the best adventure movie soundtracks, arguably rivaling (but not surpassing) the all mighty "Conan: The Barbarian Soundtrack" for sheer thunderous symphonic joy.



This treatment maintains all the power (albeit, without the metal edge) of it's namesake, while adding a whole new dimension and never straying far from its inspiration.



Not without its subtlety, beauty abounds in this stirring interpretation of one of the most influential metal albums of all time.



Amazing album, just amazing."
