CD ReviewsIt's a goner madchao | The Bottom | 04/16/2002 (4 out of 5 stars) "I can't help but dig this. It's smooth in a chaotic sort of way. It's easy listening music for uneasy people. Although Trevor's solo effort really can't be compared to his endeavors with such monstrosities as Mr. Bungle and Fantomas, that doesn't necessarily mean it is sub-par. In all, I think that this is a pretty solid "jazz" album, and although it is jarring and a bit ugly at times, it serves as a swell placebo that can take the place of illegal [substances] on any day of the week- except Sunday." It's not Jazz, it's not rock, it's not pop. What is it? ian mcelory | nanaimo, British Columbia Canada | 03/31/2001 (3 out of 5 stars) "The Avantegarde styling on this album are quite simular to the works of Gary Peacock, only to a lesser extent. I liked it, but this album didn't have the bite I would expect from a Bassist like Trevor Dunn. On average I think this is a good first album, but from T. Dunn, with so much experience behind him, I expected more." Trevor Dunn ian mcelory | 01/29/2001 (4 out of 5 stars) "Trevor Dunn did a great job writing and acquiring musicians for this project. It is a great jazz record, although not that orthodox it is a fine display of excellent musicianship and excellent compositions."
