CD Reviews

Should have been HUGE

"There are a lot of 80's rock bands that were overlooked, and then there are bands that by rights should have been massive stars. Swedish melodic rockers Treat definitely fall into the latter category. Granted, they were pretty huge in their home country, but they got next to no attention in America, despite the fact that their arena rocking sound would hav gone over extremely well here. Oh well.

1987's Dreamhunter was the band's third studio album, and it's another absolutely first class melodic rock release. Treat had such an awesome sound, drawing the best elements of Journey, Foreigner, Bon Jovi and Europe into a very slick, polished, catchy as hell brand of arena rock. You want catchy guitar hooks and melodies? You got `em. Glorious 80's keyboards? Oh yeah, those too. Smooth vocals? Check. Seriously, Treat had it all, and it's a total mystery why they were kept from the airwaves in America. I'd put Dreamhunter up against either of Europe's best selling albums any day of the week, and I'm a Europe fan. Highlights include "You're the One I Want", "World of Promises" (melodic death metal innovators In Flames ended up covering that one on the Clayman reissue), and, well, the whole album really.

This one is simple: if you love melodic rock/80's rock/hair metal/whatever you want to call it - you have to get this album. There's just no way any child of the 80's could not love Treat's sound, and Dreamhunter is one of the band's best albums (1985's Pleasure Principle might be better).

NOTE: The 2005 reissue of Dreamhunter features digitally remastered sound and one bonus track - a spirited cover of the ZZ Top classic "Tush". I'm reasonably certain this reissue, which is steadily becoming harder to find, is the only version of Dreamhunter available on CD."

"3rd best album by Treat, the others being(Scratch and Bite and The Pleasure Principle). This cd has a great sound. This is the 80's european melodic metal at it's best!Kicks the heck out of these sissy rock bands that are around today.

1.Sole Survivor(10/10)Great song.Excellent Chorus on this one.Vey involving guitar riffs.

2.You're the one I want(8/10)Cool upbeat track keeps the pace moving.

3.Take me on Your Wings(8/10)Another good eye opener track.Like always crunching guitar riffs.

4.Best of Me(7/10)Slow song of this cd.Not Great but not bad!

5.Dancing on the Edge(10/10)One of the best guitar hooks/riffs I've ever heard.Their talent really shines on this one.Great Vocals,Guitar,Bass, etc. It's excellent! The chorus is to die for!

6.Outlaw(10/10)Suberb song, this song inspired by musical taste of creating an 80's style band.A memorable track. It really rocks!

7.World of Promises(8/10)solid track, more great guitar work.Catchy chorus also!

8.One Way to Glory(8/10)Excellent track.Fine 80's tune by these guys!Great vocals.

9.Save Yourself(9/10)Love the bass line in this song.Really attractive tune!

10.The Winner(9/10)Another standout effort by Treat!

11.Tush(8/10)tHIS TUNE ROCKS LIKE THE REST!

In the end I have to say this album is a must if you love the 80's.Collector's will enjoy and so will everyone else.

A very defining album of good music and how it should be done.Unlike Today's Garbage!"
