"I must agree with a couple more recent reviewers in saying that this album has all the strengths winwood always had, some he acquired over the solo years, and the added support of jim capaldi, with whom he always rocked and brung it down home heavy. Here comes a man and Nowhere is there freedom are anthemic songs similar to some of winwood's solo stuff, but also possessing the hooks of stuff from the canteen or fantasy eras. I must say here I was always into refugees of the heart Refugees of the Heart also, wh didn't do well, but to me sounded like a comparable culmination of a long term song cycle process in winwood's maturation and spiritual growth and power. Title cut, Far from Home, also has winning hooks, or also is all hooks. as a lot of the the r&b based material is. Steve is very good at doing a kind of midlands marvin gaye type thing when he wants to, that simply grooves and rocks you. So I must say, almost 13 years running, now, from back to when I was really far from home to now, I have been with this and all of winwood's brilliant stuff, and I'm glad I did not miss any of it. Great album."

"i waited almost fourteen years to buy this disc probably because i didnt deem it to be an important to my collection. it kind of floats along with big ambience but light on guitar and instrumental workouts. a elegiac lament for chris wood......."
