"Failte! (Greetings!) This album was recorded in the early 1970's and it not only traditional, but archival materials for and Celtic Music fan. In case you are not old enough to remember, I am. Before there were big budget CD's, concerts and competitions, traditional music was played for fun and relaxation at the neighborhood pub. There were only one, two or three musicians, and chances were these people had just gotten off of the tractor, out of shepherding, or off of work at the factory or mines. This is an excellent example of the real traditional way of playing traditional Irish Music. All three musicians are top shelf by way of Irish critics. James is legendary on the fiddle, and if you don't believe this listen to the smooth double notes, triplets, slides and perfect synch with Paddy on button accordian. Paddy is legendary for fast paced reels that sound effortless. Daithi is legendary and can still be heard with Liz Carroll on her ablums. He has an exquisite style of gentle, "poetic" chord arrangements on back up guitar. He is the singer of the group with an equally gentle voice. If you are a Celtic Music Collection fan, this old, fun, relaxed style needs to be represented in your collection. Ceol de Erin Go Bragh! (Music of Ireland forever!) P.S. : Internet Distributors need to make this title more accessible under "Traditional Irish Music," because this is thoroughly traditional and thoroughly Irish."
Brilliant album of traditional music

"This is actually a rerelease of two LPs made by Kelly, O'Brien and Sproule in the mid-70s onto a single CD. The music is straight-forward Irish traditional music, played exquisitely. Kelly's fiddle and O'Brien's accordion match perfectly together, almost blending as one. A few tracks are played solo. Most notable I think is The Foxhunter Reel, featuring marvellous rhythmic double-stopping that bring out new aspects of this often-played tune. Many of the tunes are here are little-known minor and modal tunes; I've enjoyed adding them to my repertoire. Daithi Sproule also sings four songs on here. Each is a gem. This is perhaps the best album in Shanachie's lineup."
True traditional playing and singing.

"A very full CD of 27 tracks with old-time Irish traditional music. It is well done by three highly regarded Irish musicians who display their talents exceptionally well. Most of the tracks are of, to me, lesser known songs. This adds to the delight of owning this CD - I recommend it highly."
Excellent, Highly Recommend
