Great Song by EBTG's Tracey Thorn

"Anyone who loves EBTG and Deep House music will love this song and remixes. Thorn has put out the perfect first single. It is catchy, light and timeless. This song is becoming a big hit in the UK, however I don't think it will get much airplay in the US. Too bad, because it is a great song. I think if more people were exposed to it, it would become a hit. Maybe Tracey will do some TV/ Radio/ Magazine promotion in the US? I hope so!"
What ever happened to the basic "extended" version of songs?

"Say, here's a brilliant idea: Why not take the album version of "It's All True" and just extend it? After all, the album track is great and very catchy, so by extending it just right everyone can enjoy and dance to it longer. So, why didn't they do that for this single? The DSE dub, while using the basis of the album track, is fine but there should have been a DSE VOCAL track as well! It's so obvious.
The Escort Extended Remix is alright but sounds like a watered-down version of the song to appease the house crowd, taking away the "punch" that the original track has.
The Martin Buttrich Remix is one of those longggggg 9-minute tranced out versions (or whatever term they apply to this sound lately) that doesn't represent the core of the song well. Instead it comes off as a vanity piece for the dj behind it -- let's face it, some dj remixers could just add sounds of them blowing their nose over the song and die-hard fans of that dj would deem it brilliant simply because of his/her name and mystique. It's one thing to remix a song, but quite another to rework it so much that it doesn't really resemble the original it was from. This kind of thing works for some folks, but from my experience with clubs, mainly for those a bit altered by alchohol or some kind of drug. Sorry to sound harsh, but this release could have been so much better. There are too many songs that offer this particular remix's style that they are all starting to sound alike. Even Erasure on their current "Light At The End Of The World" singles and previous two studio albums have gone back to offering basic extended remixes in addition to alternate remixes of different styles. It works quite successfully.
By playing these tracks of "It's All True" for numerous people, all have agreed the basic album track is the best of all. It works on every level: It's upbeat, happy, danceable, and catchy. Tracey Thorn's ever-so smooth and great voice works beautifully with it. So why not do what made so many 12" versions in the 80s work so well by simply extending it? I'd have given this single at least 4 stars had the 6:44 DSE track been given the full vocal treatment instead of just a dub version. Hearing only snippets of Tracey's voice is like a cruel tease, we deserve to hear her talent with the full vocal. Here's hoping that somewhere a dj-remix service will do just that and allow fans to get ahold of that one."

"I love Tracy Thorn and the original song is great, but the remixes are HORRIBLE. This song in the hands of a couple of great djs would have been fantastic. Don't waste your money on this and buy the album."
