Product DescriptionRarely has this industry seen such a legacy as that of Tony De La Rosa. In 1998, the National Endowment for the Arts presented Tony with this nation's highest honor bestowed to a cultural artist, "The National Heritage Fellowship Award". He was also inducted into the Tejano Conjunto Hall of Fame in 1982 and into the prestigious Tejano ROOTS Hall of Fame. Tony, an innovator, is credited with taking the early forms of Conjunto music and transforming it into what it is today. He was the first to add drums to the Conjunto ensemble, replace the upright bass with the electric bass and add amplification to his Conjunto sound. His accomplishments in the studio are impressive. He developed a keen sense for mixing and recording music and enthusiastically gave many new upcoming groups their start by working with them in the studio. This love for his fellow musicians led to many collaborations, some of which are featured on this collection of 35 of his best loved songs.
