CD ReviewsToni Basil Rules the world 06/10/1999 (5 out of 5 stars) "Toni Basil is the queen of music. If you haven't heard her hit song "Mickey" You've got to hear it! "Mickey" has reached Number 1 on the Billboard Charts in the U.S. and Number 2 in the U.K. Once you've heard it you'll never forget it!" More than just a musical Mickey. frostedone | Illinois, USA | 05/29/2002 (5 out of 5 stars) "Ok, everyone has heard "Mickey." Yes, everyone. Finally there's a compilation that isn't totally "Mickey" centered. 'The Very Best of Toni Basil' lives up to it's name and goes far beyond. Included are Toni's most amazing and invigorating track "Over My Head" (which should have made more of an impact than it did, but that's the politics of MTV) and the infectuous "Shoppin' from A to Z." My only regret is that the single version of "Shoppin'" wasn't used, which contains a much funnier shopping list, and one of the best tracks from Toni's second album "Suspense" was totally overlooked. Buy this album, it's worth every penny, then check out Toni's music video release "Word of Mouth" and some of her film appearances (may I reccomend "Five Easy Pieces" and "Easy Rider?") An absolute must for the fan of innovation and experimentation in music! :)" THIS ISN'T 'THE VERY BEST' Matthew A. Langjahr | Camarillo, CA United States | 02/28/2006 (3 out of 5 stars) "While the title may claim that this album presents 'the very best' of Toni Basil it doesn't. I bought this album just to have the 12" version of 'Mickey'. I was sorely disappointed when I listened to the album and found that the 12" version is an updated techno remix and NOT THE ORIGINAL 12". The updated version is awful. This album is also missing 'Suspense' which was also another club hit. If you were going to buy just one album then you should buy the 'Oh Mickey' import which includes all the songs from both her albums. I will have to continue my search for the extended mixes of 'Mickey', 'Out Of My Head', 'Suspense' and 'Shopping From A-Z' on CD."
