"For anyone who has seen Tommy live, that is who this is for. Not that it matches those fantastic days in anyway. But if you close your eyes you can remember Tommy climbing off that stage and onto the bar and playing the crap outta that guitar of his, behind his back, over his head, etc. Instead of a the second album, his managers should have just produced a live album, man, that would've sold out big time."

"Two releases from Tommy Conwell and the Young Rumblers - Rumble and Guitar Trouble, issued in 1988 and 1991, respectively - are available now on ONE fantastic CD re-release. That's double the guitar trouble for your listening pleasure! Courtesy of American Beat Records, these classic TCYR standards are now re-issued in all their digital glory! I have owned both since the first day they were on the market. Back then I was a teeny-bopper in a small West Texas town when I discovered Tommy Conwell and his Young Rumblers. Whatever Tommy puts out musically, I am rarely disappointed. He's awesome! He's amazing! He's the awesome and amazingly talented guitarist/singer/songwriter/performer Tommy Conwell!"

"I am fortunate enough to own a vinyl copy of Tommy Conwell and the Young Rumbler's first release, "Walk on Water". This is by far their best release and captured the Rumblers at their peak. The first release includes the original version of Love's on Fire, Walkin' on Water, I'm Not Your Man, and their best song ever, "Do You Still Believe In Me".
After seeing Tommy and the boys play live many times in the 80's in bars in Lancaster and Harrisburg, PA, I expeceted big things for them. Instead, they added keyboards and synth for "Rumble, their second release. Rumble is a good release, but seemed to divert from their raw rock 'n roll guitar sound. Their third release, "Guitar Trouble" is not very good in my opinion. Again, they tried to change their sound to more of a blues rock.....too much blues. In fact, after Guitar Trouble failed to meet its expectations, the record lable dropped the Rumblers.
I would say that the purchase price of this CD is worth owning "Rumble" alone. Again, it's their best major label release, but does not live up to their live sound.
I have great memories of sitting at the bar and grabbing my beer really fast, because Tommy was walking down the bar playing a great solo. He jumped up on tables, the bar, speakers, whatever he could reach. I have recently converted "Walkin' on Water" to MP3 format and added it to my MP3 player. For now, "Walkin' on Water" and parts of "Rumble" will help me to remember one of the best live acts I have ever witnessed in my life...Tommy and the Young Rumblers."
