"I like to say that there are only two types of music fans out there. Those who love Tom Russell and those who have yet to hear one of his songs. Unfortunately, there are more of the latter at this time.
This compilation is a must for those who are fans of the singer/songwriter. It contains numerous songs from hard to obtain albums, his greatest songs and some new songs. It is also the perfect Christmas gift to give to a friend who has yet to hear any of Tom's songs. Once you give this collection a listen, you will wonder why Tom Russell is not a household name.
Russell is a born storyteller. His songs, for those who have yet to hear any, are sort of like a mixture between Harry Chaplin and Dave Alvin/Gene Clark. Among my favorites on this collection is "Touch of Evil" and "The Pugilist at 59". Great stuff

"I became a Tom Russell fan when he released Borderland. I saw him in person 3 times. I am hooked on Tom and his music and the music of his friends Gretchen Peters, Dave Alvin, etc. This two disc compilation is a nice review of Tom's music. If your new to Tom, this is a great introduction. I have every CD he's released since Modern Art. I never grow tired of listening to Tom. If you like this compilation, I'd recommend the previously mentioned Borderland, and Modern Art. My real favorite is Hotwalker--totally different than anything you've heard before."

"Tom Russell may never be fully discovered as what he is... one of the greatest singer songwriters of his time. so if you have to Tom put out a million Anthologies until the rest of the world "gets it". the nice thing about this anthology is it's hand picked by Tom himself and it had me revisiting some earlier material i hadn't listened to in a long time. if you haven't heard Tom Russell before start here, if you're a fan and like me haven't pulled out the old vinyl versions of his earlier stuff take another listen, what a song writer, what a singer!"
