Album Description

STR Digital Records is a New-Orleans-based independent label which works with some of New Orleans' finest talent. The primary focus of the labl is jazz and blues, with a hint of world music. To date, STR has released 14 CDs by such talented New Orleans musicians such as Joe Krown, Tom McDermott, Ricky Sebastian, Kim Prevost & Bill Solley, Clarence Johnson III, Sanford Hinderlie, Guy Beck, and Vahag Petian.

New Orleans Piano Wizard at His Best

"Tom McDermott is one of my favorite piano players and this is my favorite of his recordings. It's a shame that he isn't well known outside of New Orleans. McDermott is a "musicians' musician," but don't let that scare you. If you are a piano player, you will be dazzled by his technical skills. If not, you'll still find this an extremely enjoyable and eclectic collection of tunes. Aside from his remarkable "chops," McDermott shows an impressive emotional range, from the rollicking "Willie Fugal's Blues" to the poignant "Petite Fleur." There's no other piano player quite like Tom McDermott. If you have even a passing interest in New Orleans music, you'll want to add this CD to your collection.
