CD Reviews

In the Great Tradition of the New York Dolls

"Living in NYC, I had only known of the the Toilet Boys through gig advertisements. I was inadvertently exposed to them when they opened for Nina Hagen, not too long ago. I was much happier watching their show than Nina Hagen's (who I walked out on). They bring showmanship back to rock with their use of pyro, energy, and their great look. Miss Guy reminds me of Debbie Harry on angel-dust, and I mean that in a good way! The next day I went out and bought their CD. Their music is incredible; high-energy, aggresive, knock 'em out-drag 'em down, rock and roll. They give the current state of rock a good shot in the arm. You know who I'm talking about: Bands who look more like the road crew, and mull about onstage like they were forced out there. I know this sounds more like a show review, but typing just doesn't do any justice to the passion that they play with."
The Boys Are Back

"This is the Toilet Boys debut full length album...and it was released on September 11th, 2001; not a great week to have your big debut come out, but this one I believe is for future generations to discover. Just plain good glam infused hard Rock; or in this case I guess you'de call it Glam Rock. I'm not sure if the public today though is thinking they are too smart, too cool, or whatever for this type of hard rock...but for whatever reason, perhaps this one is just ahead of it's time...which seems odd to point out, since the sound is more from that of a different era. Perhaps sorta an updated New York Dolls meets 80's hard rock/sunset strip stuff is how to describe it. It has been almost 6 years since it's release, and still no Glam Rock movement has occurred, or at least not that I know of. I've been waiting for a similar band to come out and make it big, so I and others can point out how they overlooked the original band of the new stuff...but I don't think that day will ever come, whatever, I still love this record. All the songs are great on it, no filler, and that is saying alot in today's music world.

From start to finish, "Party starts now", "Heartstopper". With the guitar's blazin' and the anthems shining. This is a party CD. These , uh..Guys do glam it up and shout it out. "The Future is Now" is a great anthem for dreamers, or just crankin on Friday nite. They retooled 3 classics that give each one a new dimension without ruining the originals plus there's a nice bonus cut to finish off the disc. God bless the Toilet Boys, and all those who adored their music."

"What a great CD from the greatest rock band in NYC.

I feel bad for any of you who never got to see these guys live. This CD is the next best thing. It is a crime that these guys never broke out and became a worldwide sensation. Pick this up and you'll know exactly what I mean.

Standouts are Heartstopper and Saturday Nite. The whole CD is very solid, and well worth the $$.
