"To those of you who know Carla Bley and Steve Swallow from their great previous duet alboum "Duets" this alboum will not be a surprise. Great cooperation between two great musicians who surly had fun creating and playing this staff together.one more tip : this alboums as well as "Duets" is a great alboum for people who know only popular music and want to be exposed to some more sophisticated kind of music. Listen to this alboum. you will not regret!"
Dream-team Duo, with bonus mystery guitarist

"Bley and Swallow can do no wrong - even if they *do* squander precious cover notes space on umpteen silly out-takes from the photo session. But the good news is that the dream team duo listed on the cover is actually a *trio*! An un-credited and singularly accomplished guitarist lifts this album into an even cooler gig. So who is he? Going by the solo on 'Masquerade in 3 Parts', I'd've said that old warhorse Jim Hall, but the acoustic work elsewhere bubbles with actual life and timbre that JH hasn't allowed into his fretboard meanderings for many a year. Any keen-eared aficionado care to put me out of my curiosity?"
