"Up front, I have been a Todd fan for 28 years. Todd has truly provided us a diverse range of music starting with the NAZZ, the skillfully crafted pop of the Runt, his masterpiece "A Cappella" to his philly soul sound on Nearly Human. Throughout the experience Todd has provided us a theme to understand how he visualized each project. Here again ... Todd has focused on the latest political events. As usual, he has asked the listener to think & develop their own ideas regarding "the Truth". Todd is never in your face & allows the listener to reflect on their own views & beliefs. No doubt, Todd is back to true form on "Liars". This CD is destined to be a classic. The sound & production is rich. As usual Todd plays all the instruments, produced, engineered the entire CD. In two cases, Todd brought in a steel guitar player & a flutist. The CD leads off with his typical tour deforce truth. Although a nice song, this song has a 80s dance feel. This song tends to grow on the listener. The next song is titled "sweet" and the plot line is fantastic. No doubt, the song exclaims Todd has found the truth & feels free. This song is the true narrative of the plot line. After sweet, Todd follows with Happy Anniversary. This is the comical song on this CD. Remids me of his 80s hit "bang on my drum". The chorus is "Men are Stupid ... Women are Evil". You figure out the rest. Very entertaining & comical. After his comments on the genders, Todd changes azimuth & shares his hillarious views on the current state of "Pop Music" & it's lack of Soul. This single titled "Soul Brother" has that warm jazz bar ambiance & humors the listener with Todd's attacks. Fortunately Todd has the credibility to challenge today's main stream artists by asking "what ever happened to the Soul?". Seems Todd feels some of our current stars lack soul & talent. Todd just wants to know what happened. By the way ... I'm curious what ever happened to the Soul of Pop music. Glad someone like Todd is challenging the mainstream. I could go on & on. My last two notes regard the songs "Stoodup" & "Past". The song Stood up is totally Beatlesque in sound & feel. This is the Pop song on the CD. Just buy the CD & listen. I think you will agree. Ironically, Todd works his way to the "past". This song is beautiful, airy & ambient! The rich sound has that old Motown feel. As I listened to this song, all I could do was think of the past & realize that we must look to our future & not sleep in the past. Todd has challenged us to continue to move forward & respect our past in a way he did it in the classic "Fair Warning". I'm happy, because now I have a new song to listen to when I feel like the world is on my shoulders. Last thing ... I have met Todd Rundgren several times. The last time was in Osaka, Japan prior to his "Liars" concert backstage. As usual, he had his usual down to earth style & wit. No doubt ... Todd is genuinely honest & always challenge his listeners to think beyond the setting. Todd will never comprimise himself for stardom. I know all fans, both new & old, will enjoy this CD from start to finish. Please go ahead, challenge yourself, listen to this CD critically & explore your views regarding honesty & the truth. You may be surprised! I promise you will enjoy the experience!! 5 STARS!!! Bravo Todd!

"There is nothing on the other side of this dual disc worth spending the extra money. The DVD side has the lyrics only. The music is his best in years but why waste your money on the dual disc aspect when there is nothing special to it?
Addendum: 12/3/08 Here it is.....3 years later..I have a surround sound system and now I get it....extremely cool!"
Business as usual!

"This is brilliant work from a brilliant mind. Pretty much what we've grown to expect from Todd. I highly recommend this one just like every other Todd album."
Worth the extra purchase....

"I bought Todd Rundgren's Liars when it first came out and I felt that it was his strongest and most potent release in ages. Now I've purchased this dualdisc and I'm very pleased that I did. Those that own a surround sound system will experience the DVD side of Liars in an entirely new dimension.
I guess this means that I'll have to purchase many of my favorites again in this format, but for sound like this, it's worth it."
