CD Reviews

Comedy may never see another album that rocks this hard
Koren M. Zailckas | New York, NY | 01/23/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

""Falling Off the Bone" is filled with multi-textured, deeply melodic humor with psychedelic overtones. Some have said this is Todd's futuristic concept album. In truth, "Bone" is folkier than "Medium Energy," but it is still rooted in posturing and excess, as evidenced by "Michael Jackson and Jose" and "Malaysian Restaurant." This is not to say that Todd has abandoned his relentlessly hypnotic sound. Slicker synth-driven cuts like "I Heart Roe vs. Wade" have plenty of feral wail in them. And the vocal harmonies of "Scotland" and the beautifully sprawling "Australia" are additional high points, but there's nary a duff track on the album. Plus, if you listen to "Bone" on an iPod you will hear it in Blue Öyster Cult-like surround sound, a lightening bolt of high-end sonics."
Brilliant stuff - not defective in the slightest

"the key to Todd Barry's standup act lies in the delivery. In this case, I'd recomend Fed Ex as DHL are always losing stuff. But seriously, does anyone really give a hoot that Nitwit From Nowhere couldn't get their copy of 'Falling Off The Bone' to work properly in their K-Mart DVD player? Hey, not only does my copy play just fine, but I think the sound and video quality of every other DVD in my collection has improved since. Thank you, Todd Barry. And thank you, Comedy Central (for not showing "Mad TV" in a 24 hour loop)."
Slobbering on the bone

"
"Falling Off the Bone" had me slobbering all over it. It's everything a comedy cd should be--hillarious, smart, and it sends both the small and large intestines on the roller coaster ride of their lives. double up on the depends. this one's a doozy.

i would tell the lady below not to play with electronics after going on a holiday booze cruise. i don't think she realizes that one disc is an audio cd and the other is a dvd. and, both work just fine."
