CD Reviews

Ttito Nieves back in his element!

""La Salsa Vive" the first release of this album is absolutely the Salsa record of the year. This instant hit is with the collaboration of Celia Cruz, Ismael Miranda, Gilberto Santa Rosa and Cheo Fecliciano. I am so glad that there is still true salseros left, which perform the type of salsa that salsa dancers and true salsa aficionados love. This is a definite add to your collection."
Extremely Weak

"Tito Nieves is one of the greatest Salsa Music Singers of all times, hence; he is called "El Pavarotti de la Salsa". He needs to completely dis-associate from Mr. Sergio George but; is not going to happen because there is a personnal realationship instead of a professional. It is hurting him really bad. He needs a good album ASAP. Two weak ones in a row will make his customers more hesitant to buy his music. In my humble opinion his new album is a bluff. Starting with the first song that expose the corroted voice of Celia Cruz. The CD's second cut is a ballard with Olga Tanon, is a great cut but; for a CD with very few songs it does bother us his true fans. Tito Nieves is working on expanding his market by joining the Mexican Ranchero-Grupero-Tejano group called Pesado to sing a Norterno song called "El Caramelo". Normally who ever listens to Salsa does not likes Cumbia unless they are from Colombia. Songs 6,7 and 8 are the few Salsa tunes, and these are not that great of songs because they sound like Sergio George. In the song "No puedo" when you are catching the swing on the dance floor Tito cuts your inspiration by stoping the trombons and percussion just to imposse his clasical comment of "Chula" in a Very Sergio George style. The last song "Te vas" is a POP re-made of salsa cut number 5 in the CD. You make the math, 8 songs total, 2X ballards and one Cumbia, Only 5 salsa songs in the entire CD. The only salsa or song that sounds great is number seven. Tito Nieves needs another album like "Clase aparte" ASAP. Last years CD "Otra Onda" was a dissapoinment for his fans an so this years' musical proposal. Very Respecfully
