"If one should possess a good taste for melody, poised between the traditional roots of Hardcore, `Alone with the Alone' is definitely worth the waste of your time. You may consider `Alone with the Alone' a must for all avid hardcore fans.
As almost every Time in Malta's albums differed in sound, so did their members since the early days of `Construct and Demolish'. You will notice the heart and sound direction almost varying throughout their musical journey; however, not as much as it did their roots. If you expect `Alone with the Alone' to be that of similar to the `Construct and Demolish' album, I would better advise that you review it before making your purchase. It is the kind of album whereby you either hate or love. For all we know, you may find your disposition in favouring with this album despite your unsullied love for `Construct of Demolish'.
Expect loads of heavy chunks of guitars fused with vocals towering amongst their own instruments. This album is as strong as it gets. Though, songs like `Event Horizon' and `Ghost' will also help you better understand Time In Malta's delicate counterpoint. For myself, it is almost intriguing to hear how the Hardcore genre can get so melodious and yet, heavy altogether. I am definitely not referring to the now `screamo' and what have yous. I'm talking Hardcore. I am speaking musical elements that have been created clearly to make contrast amidst the contemporary `heavy' and their very own translation of heavy. If you do not comprehend the above said, footnote and read the Hardcore bible.
On the contrary, this may not be an award winning album in many hearts. You may find yourself unsuited for the style they have become. Nonetheless, if you are an adaptable music person, you may or will twitch and feel the pangs of your hidden, stashed-up Hardcore blood strawing back to your system. You will therein, build a second engine, construct and demolish the rest of your other hardcore CDs. (Not Snapcase though) Haha!

Amazing Underrated Band...

"Time in Malta is one of those bands that deserves much more recognition than they receive, which is a shame because thier new album, ALone with the Alone, is by far one of the best ablums of 2004. Picking up where they left off with A Second Engine, Time in Malta successfully blend hardore, punk, indie, and rock into a perfect blend of passionate music. Bare Witness opens the records (after a short intro), and sets the tone for the rest of the album. Tightrope is an updated version of the untitled demo track of an Equal Vision sampler, and sounds even better with tight production. Each track is unique in its own right, straying from the typical emo-ish formula. Time in Malta can bring the heaviness as well as the calm, and the one-two punch of Perform the Surgery and Catalyst rival (and top) anything Terror, Hatebreed, or any other generic Trustkill band (beside Hopesfall)can bring. There is a little here for everyone, as in the quieter, but no less moving, tracks such as Ghost and personal favorite Event Horizon. Overall, this is an amazing release from a band that needs to be heard."
