CD ReviewsGood CD but took too long to produce 02/27/2002 (4 out of 5 stars) "This is a very good CD and if you are not familiar with Tim Mahoney's music, I compare him to Gin Blossoms and Hootie and the Blowfish type music and sound. Tim's got an incredible voice and sounds even better live in concert. He's got a great band behind him with Bruce Vosberg at Guitar, John Wright at bass and Tait the super drummer. Without these guys behind him, his shows were losing their magic and energy. overall, one of the best unsigned bands today (2002). For those who are familiar with his music, some may be disappointed that a lot of the songs that he wrote over the past 4 years and performed live (I'll follow you, Maybe Someday, Jack Daniels for President, Days, Beautiful Waste of Time, Minnesota, If You Want To Be Happy, The Question) never made the cut and many new songs never performed, made the new CD. So to some dedicated fans, this is a true disappointment. But to those who are new to the music, this CD will not disappoint. Some of the songs seem a little overdone such as SHINE, but compared to the original, it has more depth and not as raw as the original demo a few years back. I feel Tim could have released at least 2 very good CDs within the time this one was released with a lot of great songs that never made this CD, or in the future, release a double CD with all the material that he wrote these past 4 years. Wating 4 years for a new CD is a long time and Tim could have gained more popularity over the 4 years by releasing at least 2 CDs with great raw music that he is known to write. Visit TIMMAHONEY.COM and listen to the clips of this CD as well as all of his older material. Check it out!" He is by no means up and coming, he has secured his status as the skilled vocalist and musician that he is to all that see him live. With fantastic guitar licks and a sweet vocal touch, this up-beat album is definite crowd pleaser. The only question that is left in my mind is "why don't I hear him on the radio all the time?"I attribute this to his focus on playing music for his listeners, not just the masses. I would have never heard of him if I hadn't seen him at an incredible outdoor show last summer, but I have been hooked since. He is the kind of guy who comes back out after the show is over and will just hang out with the fans. It is rare to find that kind of sincerity with a musician of his status, but you can just feel that he is doing what he loves.I would reccommend this album to anyone who is looking for a great listening CD with smooth transitions from brilliantly written lyrics in softer songs like "breathe" to his rock songs that WILL make you jump when you hear him say "Shine."Great music evolution and keep your eye on this guy and his band in the future. He has a voice that you will never forget. If you go to one of his shows, bring your CD, he is always happen to personalize and sign it. Don't miss out.-rich"
