CD ReviewsPettibone at his best VertigoXpress | USA | 07/20/2007 (4 out of 5 stars) "This maxi-CD is great for a couple of reasons. First off, it features one of Shep Pettibone's best remixes. His "Velvet Rail" mix of "Sugar Daddy" lays down a slammin' house groove that also samples the Instant Funk disco classic "I've Got My Mind Made Up". While normally I dislike the way certain house producers place the vocals inside brand new melodies that seem at odds with one another, it works great here. The mixes that stick more closely to the original "Sugar Daddy" don't work nearly as well, which is odd.
This is also worth picking up because of the great B-side track "Monkey Man", which is better than most of the album tracks from its mother album, "Big Trash"." |
