"I first heard Journey to Addis on 8-track not long after its initial release. Unfortunately, it belonged to a friend and, up until recently, I had been unable to find a copy of this collection. This album (can I still call it that?) is a winner from start to finish. The instrumental title track is my favorite due to its infectious, haunting groove. Over the years I've been able to listen to the album's more popular tracks (e.g., Now That We've Found Love and African Woman) as they've appeared on other releases, but I truly missed others such as the aforementioned title track and Cold Sweat. A true masterpiece that should appeal to "drum and bass" fans and others who appreciate classic roots reggae."
One of the best reggae albums ever composed.

"What's this? It cannot be, Journey to Addis on CD! I have looked for any version of this reggae masterpiece for over ten years and finally found a vinyl copy of it in Denver last summer. I am happy to see a digital version now exists. I endured quizzical looks from reggae music specialty stores in San Franciso, Sante Fe, and New York who claimed there was no such album as Journey to Addis by Third World. The music, while reggae, has strong soul overtones. The vocal harmonization is perhaps the best on any record of which I know. The music is subtly seductive and instantly relaxing. Tracks to obsess over are One Cold Vibe, Cool Meditation, Now That We Found Love (one of the best love songs ever recorded), and Journey to Addis. However, to be truly appeciated view it as an album, not a collection of singles. All in all, the record is about a romance, as it conveys a strong sense of love and passion for life and people. Buy now!"
A true gem!

"Folks, this is an amazing album. unfortunatly, even the most avid reggae fans do not know of it's existence. Tracks like "cool meditation", "one more vibe" and "fret not thyself" are great examples of how reggae was like during it's popular height. i had an lp once, but listening to the remastered cd is quite an experience by itself. don't miss out on great stuff."
Take a Gamble on this, or be left in a Huff...

"I don't normally give five stars. Or order records from America, but I've waited years for this album to be available on CD.Of all the legendary albums recorded at Compass Point Studios in Nassau, this one is without equal. If you love to be moved and grooved, you will enjoy its empassioned vocals and killer choruses. If your appreciation of music is more technical, you will be inspired by the musicianship in its blend of reggae with jazz and funk. Despite containing the hit single "Now That We've Found Love", this album retains cult classic appeal. Join our discerning minority!"
