"I was listening to The Loft station on my XM Satellite radio yesterday in the midst of an interview program featuring Thea Gilmore and songs from her album Loft Music. An interesting thing happened. I became just as enthralled with hearing her answering the questions as I was hearing her perform such songs as her inimitable cover of Bad Moon Rising.Thea is a charming and charasmatic performer and personality. I love acoustic material like her's as featured on the Loft because it has that folk rock flavor that is becoming so popular now. I recommend this album Loft Music and urge you to follow the career of up and coming Thea Gilmore, she will be the one to get even better as we go along. Jay Adler, Massapequa, NY"

A Wonderful Album of Covers by a Very Talented Musician

"This is perhaps Thea Gilmore's most sensitively sung album and is a collection of covers. She successfully turns the songs upside down and provides her well crafted interpretations and renditions. Creedence Clearwater's "Bad Moon Rising" is fashioned into a haunting folk song with banjo backing and I enjoyed the song as if it were the first time I had heard it. "Ever Fallen in Love" is plaintive and wistful and a radical and improved re-working of the quick tempo Buzzcocks' song. "The Old Laughing Lady" is arguably a better version than that of Neil Young and she slows the pace of the latter version. Phil Ochs' "When I'm Gone" is also sad and wistful, making one aware of the temporality of life. Josef's Train begins with acoustic guitar picking and her laid back voice draws one into the lyrics. It surely will become popular among folk musicians. Her rendition of this song is simply awesome and worth the price of the CD on its own. The singing on this CD packs a powerful musical punch. It also reveals Thea Gilmore's ability to vary the type of songs she plays, which is different to the music from previous CDs, such as "Rules for Jokers" and "Avalanche." "Loft Music" is a brilliant CD by a highly talented musician."

Great collection of covers

"Loftmusic is a great mellow album, a bit like Songs from the Gutter, and an excellent counterpoint to the more aggressive and vibrant alternative rock of Avalanche. The closest song on that album might be "Razor Valentine." I can't comment on how the songs differ from their originals as I don't know any of the originals, but I'm very glad to know Thea's versions."
