Wonderfully Made

(5 out of 5 stars)

"With this album, The Waiting sets a new standard for themselves and everyone else. While all of their previous projects have had hard-hitting if sometimes obscure lyrics, this one has gotten more accessible without sacrificing any of The Waiting's trademark potency. While the songs have always been produced well on The Waiting's previous work, the production on Wonderfully Made is definitely a notch or two higher. Some of the songs almost make you feel as if you are jammin' with the band in the studio, and certainly invite you to jam with them wherever you happen to be listening. But it is the message of this album that really resonates with me. No matter how bad things seem to get: "cuz even the diamonds turn to dust, passing along as everything must"; there is a victory in this life, and you can find it: "when I take the time to feel Your love, a thousand years is not enough".This album truely is, wonderfully made."

"The Waiting debuted in 1997 with two big radio singles ("Hands In The Air", "How Do You Do That"), and gained fans across the country. Their next CD, Unfazed, didn't do as well for some reason. By the time this CD was released, many people had forgotten who they were. For those who actually remember this band, this album is something they've been waiting for. Once again, Brad Olsen's great lyrics stand out, with lots of great tunes, including "Take Me As I Am", "The Rest Of The World" and the slower, darker "Sleepless". If you're a fan of great alternative folk-rock you'll love this group."
