My return to the used very dissapointing...

"I first got the the Used self titled debut from a friend and instantly I was hooked. At first glance there was nothing out of the ordinary from this scr/emo band I thought, but as time went on and it got more and more spins in my personal collection I had to sit down and digest a bit more.
There first album was incredibly raw. You can feel the honest angst in all the little details and the odd, slightly "off" tonal progressions that made this would-be bargain bin compilation classic. On top of all that honest emotion was some catchy riffs and enough punk to keep things interesting.
This album and its predecessor however, have lost that magic completely. In Love And Death was declared to be a masterpiece born out of real life anguish, and maybe so, but I think Bert was a little too caught up in his new found fame to write anything really meaningful on that album. Continuing that trend, this album should be avoided like that brown lump on the side walk. Its Berts attempt to sound like everyone else, and nothing like the teeth grinding brutally beautiful and simple honesty of The Used."
