"I picked this up after talking to the guitar player, russ parrish, who is also the guitarist for the hilarious metal parody band, metal shop. Usually, I figure that guys playing in cover bands are playing in cover bands because they're lousy songwriters, but I sure was in for a surprise. This is a rock record, no doubt about it, played by people who love music. The tunes on this record are killer. This is better than anything I hear on the radio. Well played, well performed, well produced songs that get better and better with each listen, just like rock used to be, instead of this nu-metal crap or whiny emo stuff that's so popular now.Great songs, great players, great band!Chainsaw, from the classic summer school movie with Mark Harmon is in the band, too!!"
Amazing

"I first heard these Birds on the Metal Sludge compilation a while back. "Elephants and Tangerines" was by far my favorite song on the album... awesome guitar, great hooks. I had to snag "All the Same" to see if these guys really could deliver 12 super-tasty songbits... and I was amazed at what I heard. Though I love all the tunes on the album, I'm a closet ballad lover, and have played, "Thought you Should Know," CONTINUOUSLY. No excuses, people - this album is a rare find and should be added to any rock lovers collection."
Awesome CD

"This CD will spend considerable time in your player. If you like rock music, that sounds great, with intelligent lyrics then this band is for you. While Russ Parrish has heavy metal roots (Rob Halford-FIGHT, The Atomic Punks and Metal Skool), this is more melodic. The song Hold On To Jane is a masterpiece, and should be on radio stations across the country. It's a shame that people aren't getting the chance to hear this song. It is as good, or better than any Matchbox 20 or Goo Goo Dolls song. If you're reading this....Click BUY. Don't blow it."
"All The Same"? Certainly Not!

"Finally a great band getting some recognition and getting signed! We've had their indie releases ("None More Grey" and "What Were Once Ducks Are Not Ducks") for quite some time, and this CD is a combination of the two, although it's not "All The Same." Though most of the songs were written by Russ Parrish (with "Best Friend Kay," "Thought You Should Know," "Internet Xplorer" and "All The Same - which gives the album its title- as favorites in my house), a special mention must be given to "Lie To Me," penned by drummer Darren Leader. It's been a while since I've heard such a desperate plea for love that somehow rings unrequited.
Really good rocking guitars by the abovementioned Parrish (who also has the lead vocals) and Jimmy Oleson, killer bass lines by Dean Cameron and Leader's great drumming makes this CD a must buy and must listen over and over and over again. My rating: 5 out of 5 catnip toys! (most excellent!)"
You'll absolutely eat this one up

"Fans of hard Power Pop will absolutely eat this one up. Take the big glam sound of Enuff Z'Nuff, swagger from Marvelous 3, power of King's X and the fun of 40 Ft. Ringo and you'll have a great idea of what The Thornbirds are all about. Great vocals and harmonies wrap themselves around powerful guitar-driven hooks. "All The Same" is not to be missed and is highly recommended."
