"This is a great CD. Try and buy even one of these remixes on vinyl and you'll pay at least as much. (I know it sounds wacky, but some of us SEEK vinyl) The main reason I'm writing this review though is that none of the other reviewers remark on the definite house classic on this album: Leash Called Love. 10 years later, this will still get people on the floor."

Some good, most horrible

"This CD is the very definition of the kind you should choose to download off the internet instead of wasting fifteen dollars on. Download them all, give them a listen, and then you'll probably delete most of them.The worst has to be the Motorcrash remix - jesus, what a waste! I was excited about this track until I heard about - oh let's see - five seconds of it! It's just an instrumental techno track that sounds nothing like the original except near the end for about fifteen seconds. No vocals. Nothing much in this one at all. The birthday remixes are pretty disapointing. It's a great song destroyed (twice!) by generic pop/techno beats. Sometimes they work and you'll catch yourself tapping your foot to the familiar birthday themes (heh) but overall they're worth just one listen. Unless you like the kind of music you can make on your little sister's twenty-five dollar keyboard. On the bright side there are about five tracks worth keeping, maybe even a couple more if you're extremely forgiving. The standouts here are (IMO): Regina, Water, Mama and Pump. These remixes actually sound like something that would be on an album. Regina has always been a favorite of mine and even though I'm on the fence about Orn's barking (at times I love it, at times I cringe) I love the Lobster bit in Regina and it's a bit extended on this album. The sugarcubes themselves remixed this one and it makes you wonder why the hell the Sugarcubes didn't do the entire album. After all, thier remixes tend to be the best ones anyway. It makes you wonder how much creative control they really had. Oh, and the Pump remix is great! Better than the original IMO.In summary, if you're a big Sugarcubes fan - get it or download it, some of the tracks are worthy of adding to your collection. But if you're tired of wasting money on mystery remix albums by your favorite artists then this album is, unfortunately, no exception. It's probably exactly how you'd expect it to be, actually. Gosh darn it."

Cartoon-like joy keeps working and able to be re-born!

"Maybe a mandatory contract thing, maybe no more then a try from the recording company to get some money from the (like some popular musical magazine would say) ¨coolest¨ not-best-seller pop rockers of the last 2 decades (the rest is mine ;-P ), but the fact is that they kept that ¨joy¨ they brought us in her recently released last album. The remixes here are funny and cool, and the remixers re-criated some part of the song with their interesting new arrangements, specially for the ¨Birthday¨ versions (I'm thinking now more of the Justin Robertson version) and the re-make of ¨Regina¨ by themselves. Marius DeVries who co-produced and mixed some of the forthcoming Björk solo hits in the 90s revisited ¨Pump¨ very functionally and the only very commercial, poor mixes here are those made by Tony Humphries, although you can dance a lot with them! Anyway all the mixes here can heard (and the reworks on ¨Planet¨, ¨Gold¨ and ¨Motorcrash¨ are specially strong) in a unique sequence. You're gonna have a blast and lastimate the end of this incredible cartoon-like band."
