CD Reviews

Awesome Band, Awesome CD
Adam Hunter | Fort Wayne, IN United States | 01/12/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I first saw The Southland this summer when they opened, along with Pepper, for O.A.R. at a concert in Indy. I sat down right as they began to play, and I wasn't expecting anything too special. Boy, was I wrong. The Southland was great live and really set the mood for later. Everyone was in awe at how great their songs were and how great they were at getting the crowd into their performance. Their songs are so chill, fun, and relaxing, and you can find a hint of California in all of their songs. I bought the cd just recently, and I love it. They're a great band and anyone who likes to relax and listen to great music that puts you in a good mood needs to check out The Southland's Influence of Geography. You'll really enjoy listening to it."
Clutch CD

"This CD is amazing. You will become addicted to it and listen to it over and over and over again without it getting old. Every single song is awesome. Some of my favorites are: Shadow, Shining Sun, Debris, Creatures, Each his Own, Drowning, and Radio. The music just is unreal and has a tendency to make you compulsively tap your foot or play air guitar. The Southland is even better live...unreal. Buy it now, it will be the best CD purchase you make this year."
Diamond in the rough

"The string of OAR opening act gems continues (Virginia Coalition's "OK to Go" is phenomenal). I stumbled upon The Southland opening for OAR this summer. Jed Whedon stole the show. Their live performance was so outstanding that I bought the CD and can honestly say it has been my favorite CD of the past year. It's simply an excellent album from beginning to end. I am baffled that this band is not bigger than they are. If this album is any indication of what's to come, I'm certain is only a matter of time."
