This record put the Denton, TX 5-piece on the map. Produced by Tim Kerr (Big Boys, Poison 13), this release is a thermo-nuclear melt down of garage-punk-rock n' roll.

"1st listen: yeah, pretty good punk rock stuff
2nd listen: inside my head, really damn good
3rd listen: one of my favorite records everDon't want to compare them to other TX bands(Supersuckers, etc.) but if you're into that stuff you definitely won't be disappointed. Intense, rollicking, punk, rock and roll. If you've seen them live, this record brings it all back. Rock is not dead and the Gamblers prove it."
THE RIVERBOAT GAMBLERS HIT THE JACKPOT!!

"Unlike most punk records, this one didn't take a few listens to grow on me- it sucked me in immediately and didn't exhale until the last little outro ditty. Without question, the Gamblers have put together one of the best punk rock records to come along in recent years... it's straight-ahead, balls-out rock from beginning to end- with tons of hooks, occasionally conjuring up the spirits of old school punkers like the Ramones and Misfits. I usually don't waste my time writing reviews, but this one is worth it. Do yourself a favor: buy the record and prepare to be blown away!"
One Album You Can Keep Coming Back To

"If you are just getting into the Riverboat Gamblers, I would recommend starting off with this album. It feels so much more pure than their later work (although I do still love "To the Confusion of our Enemies). The tracks on this album pull no punches and will hit you hard until the end, with "Lottie Mae" showing the (musically) softer side of the band.
Standouts for me are "Ooh Yeah," "Rattle Me Bones," and "Catch Your Eye."
This is the era of Riverboat Gamblers that I love, and it really is something you should experience, especially live (although I imagine they'll be playing a lot off of "Underneath the Owl" nowadays)."

"Great rock n roll album from a bunch of great guys. Albums is short, songs are short but the rock will blow you away. It is there last great studio album to date."
