Nice and swinging

"Very nice compiliation of some great old standards, just the way you'd imagine a joint like Sardi's would sound on a good night. Malino's voice may lack the purity of a Torme or a Fitzgerald, but the guy can deliver a lyric, and his band knows how to swing. And a couple of minor glitches here and there remind you that these are real people performing in a real place for the pleasure of other real people."

"I learned of the John Malino band from a friend who actually saw the band at Sardi's while visiting New York. After getting the CD I understand why she went on and on about this incredible singer. I think comparing Malino to Harry Connick or John Pizzarelli does not do justice to Malino. He is an original with a distinctive, beautiful voice and unique style. The selection of songs is fantastic, sort of a greatest hits of great American songwriting. I've worn out my copy of this CD."
