GOOD TIMES INDEED !!!

(5 out of 5 stars)

"The Jacksons is a mighty awesome album with the group doing terrific soul music and they sing their hearts out on every song they do. The Jacksons took such care to always delve deep into every ballad to get at all the nuances of all the lyrics to each song--all the while making you feel so good and happy that you just wanted to jump up and start dancing practically wherever you were! This is still a great album and I hope they reissue it very soon instead of just leaving this gem on the secondary market. The quality of the sound is great and I like that artwork, too.

"Enjoy Yourself" starts the album off with a bang--this electric number always makes me smile and I can easily remember when this was originally released. I ran down to the record store to buy it and I pretty much played the grooves right off the record! The music that plays is perfect for these lyrics and the whole number is infectiously catchy, too. "Think Happy" continues in the same vein--although now the tempo is even faster and electric to the "nth" degree! Michael sounds terrific and the other Jacksons enhance the number very well. I love it! "Think Happy" also seems to have just a small side dish of disco to it that rounds out the number very well.

"Good Dancing" features Michael Jackson front and center--which is quite all right by me! The rest of the Jacksons do a fantastic job; they never falter and they never let go of a single superfluous note, either! "Keep on Dancing" is great music that also has The Jackson swinging gently to enhance their performance all the more; and I like that musical arrangement! "Blues Away" is another number with Michael singing wonderfully and that music fits in wonderfully with all the vocals.

"Show You the Way to Go" is a major highlight of this album; The Jacksons couldn't have done this any better and that's grand. I really like "Show You the Way to Go;" now THIS is music! "Living Together" also has a side dish of disco that works wonders for this tune; it's great for dancing even to this day. "Strength of One Man" features some amazing singing and it lacks absolutely nothing--this is all that good! I like the piano arrangement, too.

"Dreamer" charms me with its natural beauty and Michael's voice is incredibly fine. In addition, the CD ends very well with The Jacksons performing "Style of Life." "Style of Life" is most dynamic and it leaves me wanting more!

This self-titled album by The Jacksons is one of their best; and I hope they reissue it soon. The Jacksons do one amazing song after another on this disc; and I highly recommend it for their fans. People who like soul and even soul with just a touch of disco will like this very much."
