Why a "greatest hits?"

"I love The Gits! Mia Zapata's voice has a Janis Joplin like, gut-wrenching, from the heart quality. They are definitely a five star band, but they really didn't have that many albums to produce a greatest hits. If you buy "Frenching the Bully" and "The Conquering Chicken" you pretty much have the Gits. (Both albums are about $10/each used on Amazon) You could also get "Kings and Queens" if you want to hear some of their early stuff. Greatest Hits albums can be a money saver if the band has 10 plus or so albums and it would be nice to have the best songs in one place, but when the band only has 2 main albums it just seems unnecessary. Buy the albums, you'll get more music for your money.
Frenching the Bully
Enter: The Conquering Chicken
Kings & Queens"
Best of? More like a sampler...

"First off...I love The Gits. If Mia hadn't been killed...they would've likely been one of the biggest bands in the world. Yes...they were that good.
Next...the Amazon track listing on July 10th 2008 doesn't quite match the CD that I received. The tracks on my CD are:
1. A Change Is Gonna Come
2. Guilt Within Your Head
3. Seaweed
4. Cut My Skin It Makes Me Human
5. It All Dies Anyway
6. Spear and Magic Helmet
7. Absynthe (Live)
8. Another Shot of Whiskey (Live)
9. Insercurities (Live)
10. Here's to Your F**k (Live)
11. Whirlwind
12. Daily Bread
13. Eleven
14. Tempt Me
15. Social Love
Now that is a great set of songs...but I don't think that this CD qualifies as a "Best of". Sadly missing are 'Second Skin'...'Sign of the Crab' and 'While You're Twisting, I'm Still Breathing'...'Beauty of the Rose' and 'Slaughter of Bruce'...among others.
I gave this CD a 4 star rating...would've been a 5 star rating if it was an actual "Best of". Now this is a good sampler for people unfamiliar with The Gits. I strongly recommend the other Gits' CDs...especially "Frenching The Bully"...you won't be disappointed.
And when does one CD equal a box set?
Viva Zapata and Viva The Gits"
Great album!

"The Gits are an incredible band, this album has some live versions of some songs previously unreleased on CD. Highly recommended!"
