"Every time I try to tell someone who is a fan of highly literary indiepop about this CD, I fail--you ought to think merely in terms of GREAT songwriting, immaculate bass parts that are amazingly melodic: it's a mellow vibe, this debut, and it gets right under your skin. Ok I am going to risk a comparison (comparisons being odious of course): THE FURIOUS SEASONS sound like one of the mellower Creation Records or Fire Records bands from the late 80s, early 90s--The Bodines, Close Lobsters, Blue Aeroplanes (in a sedate-ish mode)...Really, though, you ought to give these songs a listen on www.myspace.com/thefuriousseasonsband and think it through yourself. "A Painful Filling," the strongest track on this ALBUM (yes, it is that--not just a collection of thrown-together songs), jingle-tingle-twinkles along and you are singing along yourself by the second verse. I love "Backseat Driving"--a 4AD-ish droney drone that teases you and never lets you climax. Purposefully. Have you ever had someone make love and not-love to you--kind "9 1/2 Weeks" you? hahahaha.

it is that kind of track. A beautiful CD. Buy it. There's folk, there's pop (have a listen to "Binge with You") there's total beauty. Sleeper of the year.
