Album DescriptionThe Montreal punk/pop three-piece delivers a solid collection of songs in the form of Grey Veins To The Parking Lot, the follow up album to 2001?s These Mistakes Took Years Of Practice. The album was recorded partially by Marc-Andre Beaudet (The Sainte Catherines) and Jace Lasek (The Besnard Lakes) at Breakglass and Le Beatbox in Montreal, and by Andy Magoffin (Constantines, By Divine Right) at The House Of Miracles in Ontario. Magoffin?s recordings have become renowned for their eccentricity and sense of space, and The Frenetics took full advantage of this, but the environment didn?t prevent them from delivering the hook-laden power pop for which they are so well-known. Perhaps the album?s peak is "Running Up," which blends The Frenetics? darker lyrical imagery with their penchant for traditional pop song structure and dynamics. The song also features two firsts for the band: a horn section (made up of members of The Planet Smashers, Kobayashi and Parkside Jones) and a "real" guitar solo that would make Mick Jones of The Clash proud.
