Pretentious garbage it is

"Like one reviewer said "Loud and annoying at the expense of melody". Great, beautiful unique melodies and arrangements can be hard to come by, but writing them is a skill that the lips have proved to be great at. So when you leave that part out, it feel's pretty empty. Plenty of people can make strange noise, but a melody like the flaming lips early works is hard to come by. This album is empty. I can make dark sounds just fine on my own."
A real fan!

"I must first say that EMBRYONIC is not the best Flaming Lips album. I will also say that the album is best when you have seen The Lips play songs from EMBRYONIC live. This album is a solid release from The Flaming Lips and it is in line with there other releases of the past several years. The people who are giving this album 1 and 2 stars are NOT Flaming Lips fans, if you dont "get" this release then you dont "get" this band."
Embryonic=Fantastic

""Embryonic" just may very well be the best album yet from The Flaming Lips---a delightfully wacky, wild 70-minute musical ride through acid-tripping rock and sonic landscapes. Then again, with such song titles as "Aquarius Sabotage", "Gemini Syringes", "Worm Mountain" and "Virgo Self-Esteem Broadcast", what else would you expect from this unique, innovative band? This Oklahoma group, led by Wayne Coyne, never fails to amaze me with their endearingly off-kilter brand of rock music, and "Embryonic", though not for the faint of heart, is an awesome acheivement. Crank it up, and have a good trip!"
