CD Reviews

One of my all time favorite albums!
L. Fliss | USA | 12/30/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I had the first album years ago and about wore it out. The performers are an eclectic bunch, and most were at their creative/career peak. It sounds like they all had a blast recording with Mr. Banjo Legend himself and the joy is contagious. I have missed it so much over time since divesting myself of my vinyl, but couldn't really remember the title or what the cover looked like, though I knew I would recognize it if I saw it...so, I finally went through a very lengthy Earl Scruggs discography until I found it. Oh man, I am SO glad that I did! It has held up to the years and sounds just as good now as it did then. If you love bluegrass, old country, rock or folk, give it a listen. If you just love fine music in general and bluegrass in particular, you have to get it. Personally, the second part isn't the same greatness, it doesn't have the variety of superstars on it - but it isn't bad, and it will probably grow on me. I would have been happy with the first only, so any extra is a bonus."
