Product DescriptionThe Dirt Floor Band drinks and swears while desperately trying to evolve in this lifetime. We started out as a 3 piece, but couldn't play louder then our audience so we found a rhythm section. With mandolin, banjo, guitar and harmonica as the prominent instrumentation, people tend to call us a Bluegrass band. we're still trying to think of a classification that suits us. We started by playing minor key gypsy music in rock & roll time signatures and the type of folk/country music one writes naked and alone with a guitar. Once we became a five piece, The Dirt Floor took a longer time to get where they were going, and lead instrumentation became more prevalent and occasionally more distorted. The Dirt Floor Band plays mostly original music, and will play for three hours at a time if the situation allows or if no one gets hurt. We've covered songs by the Talking Heads, Donovan, the Old Crow Medicine Show, Ween, the Minutemen, Whiskeytown and Jeff once did "careless whisper" a-cappella. Some of the members of The Dirt Floor have flush toilets... most of us don't. The Dirt Floor Band lives out of town.
