A powerful debut

"This CD is both beautiful and haunting. Wistful, melancholy, but also playful, clever and sincere. I especially liked "catching up with yourself," "hey sunshine" and "pointless." The songs contain elements of folk and pop that can't be categorized neatly, and these pretty and heartfelt tunes really took me to another place. "especially not love" hits a number of emotional chords, yearning and hopeful, sad yet caring."

"I am a longtime admirer of the great female voices of the 70's, 80's and 90's such as Joni Mitchell, Judy Collins, Suzanne Vega, and Sarah McLachlan, and so I was very excited when I heard The Dambrots "Especially Not Love". The Dambrots' vocalist Dawn Marie captures the folkish, lyrical sense of the 60's and 70's, with elements of the new wave, and Lilith Fair era sounds of the 80's the 90's, while still creating a style that is uniquely her own. "Especially Not Love" has excited me more than anything I've heard in quite some time, and I find myself playing it over and over again.
The Dambrots definitely have my attention."
